How much RAM does a Project Zomboid server need?
The rule of thumb: 2GB base plus around 500MB per player. Vanilla duos are fine on 2GB, small groups on 4GB - but mods raise the floor before anyone joins, so mod-heavy servers should start at 6-8GB. Resize instantly from the dashboard if the horde outgrows your tier.
| RAM | Recommended players | Best for | Price /mo | Renews at | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2GB | 1–2 (vanilla) | Duo survival with few or no mods | £5 | £5 | Deploy |
| 4GB | 3–6 | Small groups on vanilla or lightly modded maps | £10 | £10 | Deploy |
| 6GBPopular | 6–10 | Mod-heavy servers - map packs, vehicles, and QoL collections | £15 | £15 | Deploy |
| 8GB | 10–16 | Large workshop collections with a bigger population | £20 | £20 | Deploy |
| 12GB | 16–32 | Big public communities running heavy mod lists | £30 | £30 | Deploy |
Every Project Zomboid plan is priced at a flat £2.50 per GB of RAM per month, and the renewal price is the same as the intro price - the rate you sign up at is the rate you keep.
Player counts assume a moderate mod list. Heavy workshop collections (large map packs, Brita's, vehicle mods) effectively shift every row up one tier - a 4-player heavily modded server belongs on 6GB, not 4GB.
